Guild Cleaners was started by Dwight Alquist in the spring of 1947.

In 1959 it was moved to the current location at 17. S. Church St. Guild Cleaners is known throughout the drycleaning world, as Dwight Alquist was President N.I.D., the largest association of drycleaners in the world at the time. Guild Cleaners was purchased by Jack Alquist in 1981. From June 1996 to 1997, Jack Alquist was president of I.F.I., the largest association of drycleaners in the world.
